Lost Cat
Written by Administrator
Thursday, 02 February 2012

Zoe Simmonds is asking for help finding her cat which went missing while she was staying with friends in Lodge Hill. Zoe does not live in the village so definitely needs our help in finding the cat. She has put posters up and asks if we could all keep an eye out.

The cat is a small tabby with white paws.

Zoe is not on email but her phone is 07927 971936.

January in Westbury Village Stores
Written by Janet Fisher
Sunday, 15 January 2012

Stoke Road   Westbury-sub-Mendip   WELLS    BA5 1HD

Tel: 01749 870296

During January – Rachel Recommends:

Miss Dibs! We have some gorgeous products for you to try this month – made right here in Westbury!  I’m really excited! Miss Dibs specialises in ‘all things savoury’ and it was a real delight testing the samples we had at the end of last year. The Greek influence is obvious – and the Tiropita Pie is divine – feta and mint – I can’t wait to try this again.

Miss Dibs is a fledgling enterprise, set up by Vanessa Di Bitondo who has recreated some of her grandmother’s traditional recipes. There is an Italian influence too - the quality and presentation is beautiful – and there are two soups in the Miss Dibs range which are just perfect for these cold winter days. These dishes leave you wanting more. I so want to say more, but I’m running out of space!

So - why not come in and ask for the Spanakopita Pie – I look forward to testing your pronunciation!!

Our opening hours throughout January are:

Monday-Friday 7.30am-6.30pm

Saturday 8am-1pm

Sunday 8am-1pm

With warmest wishes for a very Happy New Year to you all!

Rachel

St Lawrence's Primary School's would love the whole village to join them for "Hunger Lunch" (a basic meal of bread, cheese and delicious homemade soup) to raise awareness of world hunger.

Parish Meetings
Written by Administrator
Saturday, 01 January 2011

Parish Meetings are held at least once in each year, between 1st March and 1st June, and at other times as needed.

Parish Meetings are chaired by the Parish Council Chairman, and by tradition the annual Parish Meeting is used for presenting annual reports, and is an opportunity to invite an external speaker to address a topic of local interest.

Residents who are on the electoral role may vote at Parish Meetings. Parish Meeting votes are not binding on the Parish Council or other tiers of local government, but they may be used to inform decision making by these authorities.

2010 Friendly Society's Annual Grand Day Out
Written by Janet Fisher
Sunday, 19 September 2010
On Monday September 13th At 12.08 precisely (this is important), our coach left the village hall to take us all on Westbury Friendly Society's Annual Senior's Mystery Outing.

As usual our destination was a very well kept secret and as we headed off to goodness knows where, speculation was rife amongst the passengers. We turned south onto the M5, thus eliminating several Bristol and Gloucestershire options.
