Club Day
About Club Day

The biggest event of the year, in Westbury, is the annual Club Day on Spring Bank Holiday weekend.  this is spread over two days and is combined with the Church Fete.

Sunday begins with a children's fancy dress competition in the morning, followed by a parade through the village - led by a brass band. After the awarding of prizes and a role call of members at the Westbury Inn, there is a special service at the village Church, followed by lunch at the Village Hall.

Monday's events take place on the village playing field.  Since 2007 this has started with a fun run around the lower local hills.  There is then a BBQ with licensed bar, Church Fate stalls and teas, children's sports, skittles, tug-of-war contest, coconut shy, zippy-dipper and various other side shows.

May 2008

ImageThe first day of the Club Day weekend went ahead successfully, in spite of the bad weather, culminating an interesting and entertaining talk over lunch by local actress Angela Barlow.

ImageBy Monday, however, the appalling weather had deteriorated to a point when the sports and Church Fete had to be abandoned. The fate raffle was postponed until later in the year.
