The 10th anniversary AGM
of the Friends of Westbury Church was held in the village hall on
17th February. To mark the occasion, members were greeted with a
glass of wine and a slice of cake (see picture).
After ten years as secretary, John
Berry finally hung up his pencil, and a vote of thanks proposed by
Michael Green was unanimously passed by the meeting. Sue Reece was
elected as the new secretary, and Jan Fisher was elected to the
committee.
On behalf of the PCC, John Barkle
thanked the Friends for their generous donations to the Church
fabric funds over the past ten years, which have amounted to
£20,000.
Theguest speaker was bell ringer
Rachel Taylor, who talked about the history of the Westbury bells
and the art (and science) of ringing them. She also invited anyone
interested in taking it up to join them for their Monday evening
practice sessions. |
