West Somerset

Hosted
by tour leaders Sue Reece, Malcolm Mogford and Peter Bright
(above), with tea in the village hall organised by Liz Hamblin
and Jo Atkinson (right)), forty-five Senior Citizens enjoyed their
day out in very reasonable weather.
The
destination, as always, was a mystery, but turned out to be a
wonderful trip on the West Somerset Railway steam train from Bishops
Lydeard to Minehead.
On
arrival at Minehead, most people treated themselves to an ice cream
before being picked up by the coach which then took us all on to the
Castle of Comfort Country House Hotel near Nether Stowey for a
delicious cream tea. We had seconds too!
Malcolm
kept us entertained along the way with useful snippets of local
information and then set us a quiz to make sure we had been
listening - Mary Carlisle was the winner.
On
returning to Westbury we had a tasty supper and raffle in the
village hall, prepared by members of the Committee. A vote of thanks
to the organisers was given by Ken Banwell.
“A grand day out” as Wallace and Gromit would
say.
Report
and photography by Tony Hamblin, to whom many thanks. |
