Parish Councils are the most local tier of local government in England
and Wales, and play an important part in maintaining village amenities,
such as foot paths, and in the processing of planning applications for new
buildings. Councillors are elected as individuals, not as representatives
of political parties. Members of the public are welcome to attend all
meetings and there is an opportunity for parishioners to speak on any issue or concern at
the beginning of each meeting.

Westbury Footlights was launched in 1986 by a group of
enthusiastic villagers to provide a drama group in the village, open
to anyone of any age or ability. We stage three productions a year:
- Comedy and serious drama in the form of one or more act plays;
- Pantomimes, musicals and revues to include the children;
- and a very popular ‘Poets & Pints’ evening.

Local talent, backstage and onstage, is always much appreciated
and each production is always extremely well supported by an
excellent audience. A licensed bar is available at all productions.
We are currently looking for a director, a musical director and
pianists.
